The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel van der Kolk

A harrowing read for all the right reasons. The pain of seeing yourself reflected in the pages of this book and finally beginning to comprehend what went wrong and how to fix it is real. However, the relief of knowing I am not alone, I have not irretrievably lost my mind, and there is hope for recovery, were worth that pain.
I highly recommend this for everyone who has experienced trauma, knows people who have, or interacts with people who have.

I honestly don’t think I can rate this book but it was very well-written and taught me A LOT about the effects of trauma
I read this for work but also I don’t think I would’ve been able to read it if it wasn’t for work, just because the content is really heavy and a lot — I had to take sooo many breaks while reading this (and ultimately I listened to the audiobook version of it at the end)
But this was overall a very enlightening read, I definitely gained more understanding about trauma and that ultimately helps me understand the importance of my job’s purpose !

This book was dense, but had good insight. You’re not alone in your feelings and that’s important to remember.

I really struggled to finish this book. The first half dragged on and on and on. I swear the first half could have half the content removed and it would still say more than it needs to say. By the time I got to the half I was interested in, healing traum , I was so done with the book I listed to it on double speed, not paying much attention to it. I justed wanted to say I finally finished the book.

This is a great book, very informative regarding the evolution of treatment of psychiatric conditions, particularly PTSD, and how it fundamentally alters the body.
