This is typically Lovecraft - what it doesn't tell you is just about as bad as what it does. I'd recommend this to anyoen who likes Stephen King, or anything else by Lovecraft.

I lost interest in the book. The stories are pervaded with racism, and that’s a big reason why I didn’t like it, but a more technical reason is the writing style. If I had perhaps read ONE short story in this style, I would better appreciate it, but stories go on and on and one, and Lovecraft repeatedly uses the same themes, the same descriptions, the same words….

Lovecraft: you're a genius at horror, but you're so violently racist and anti-semitic that it's kind of impossible to enjoy your work.

As enraptured as I was by this tale, it was a little hard to keep up with the location jumps. Despite this, the author did an amazing job of making you feel like you were listening to an actual retelling of history, rather than a work of realistic fiction. I couldn’t stop listening!
