Didn't really like the book, and it wasn't really the kind of books I like to read anyways. Kya and the rest of the characters was just okay, and the romance been Kya and the other kid ( don't remember his name I read the book a while ago) was also just okay. The almost sex scene when she was 15 and he was 18 was WEIRD. Jodie was my favorite character and he was barely in the book.

A story that I got completely lost in and will be thinking about for a long time. With an ending that was so satisfying, it concluded the book as a whole perfectly.

I have so many thoughts but not enough words!
I already wish I could read this book for the first time again.

This book was genuinely the most boring book I’ve read in my ENTIRE life. The storyline is so excruciatingly slow that it took me an entire week to finally finish this book. The slow plot, the very confusing and very broken English used for dialogue in this book, the unnecessary use of the n word with the hard r. The list GOES ON!!!!! Not to mention the author of this book is a terrible person!! Just don’t buy this book. Don’t waste your time. That’s all I can say.

really this was a 3.5 stars - it was literally just average. I’ve read much worse and much better. Some parts I really enjoyed, some parts I did not like, though this isn’t a genre I typically read so that might have something to do with it

liked: immense environmental knowledge from the author, beautiful poetic descriptions of the marsh and animals, great characterization of Kya and her attachment (and I liked the audiobook accents). I liked the last chapter

disliked: I got bored in multiple chapters, and I did not find the plot believable at many points. I completely skipped chapter 39 on purpose because it was not completely necessary, but it was triggering. The last 5 chapters felt so rushed
