Updated reread on 6/4/2020:

Bumped up from 4 to 5 stars.

Not much I want to add from my original review, other than I think this volume's a lot better than I initially gave it credit for. The drama is top tier without being over the top like most shoujo manga and the characters are a blast to read. This has been a fun rereading experience!

Original review posted 5/27/19:

Ohhh, the drama! The juicy, juicy, drama! I have to say, I'm starting to enjoy characters that embrace the worse parts of their personality (or at least acknowledge them). And I really do like HIme for being as expressive and open with her emotions as she is. Granted, I'd love to see her develop into a person that kind better hide the worse parts of herself, but I would never want to see them leave entirely. Also, her choosing to drop out of the running for Blume and acknowledging Yano's growth was a big leap in character development and I loved it. I am super curious about Sumika's backstory and hope to get more of it in the next volume. Really enjoying this series, can't wait for the next volume!

Things are starting to improve a lot with the series. The background of the café is becoming a more solid concept and the characters are really coming into their own. As someone who has never been to a themed café, I instead am starting to think of it as akin to Disney world, where breaking character is a cardinal sin for the performers. Framing it in that light definitely has helped me digest the happenings without finding it to be too ridiculous. The comedy still manages to come through.

And we're finally starting to see some of the romance peek in. The characters are developing nicely. I'm enjoying this more and more.

This one was very Kanoko-centric, and I don't really like her as much.

Glad to see this volume focused on Sumika a lot! She’s my favorite!
