Wade German is the stellar talent in the contemporary world of weird poetry, and with Children of Hypnos he extends his talents to blank verse drama. In three acts, he presents a tale of the children of the titular personification of sleep, as they are forced to respond to an unwanted act of earthly worship.

German invests his rich dialogue with shocking violence, dark supernaturalism, and no shortage of grim humor. But most importantly, he explores the power of dreams, and the capricious ambitions of the Children of Hypnos, as they plot to usurp "Forgotten gods"; their sinister aims are aptly summarized in the very last line of this wonderful work: "For holier things than gods shall reign the earth."
