There is absolutely nothing appealing about Locke whatsoever…

hi, my name is caitlin and i have a pretty, shiny, new unpopular opinion™.
i think taryn is my favorite sister.
(please keep in mind i've only read the cruel prince and this novella).
hear me out, she's not the best sister. she's not the most morally clear sister. she's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. but she is just, to me, much more interesting than jude.
40 pages with taryn's apology letter had me more interested and actively emotionally engaged than 350 odd pages with jude.
jude is just as morally muddy and self absorbed and stupid at times as taryn is, i actually feel that despite the skewed perspective of tcp, they're quite evenly matched in that sense.
i feel like i understand taryn's influences and logic more than i ever cared about jude's. but i felt that way when i read tcp too.
this novella essentially just outlined how i already felt about her, because it was the same events and facts as in tcp, just presented through a lens that isn't jude's.
and because it is a lot of the same thing, i can see how people that didn't like her in tcp wouldn't be swayed by this.

Honestly, all this cleared up was that Taryn was a terrible sister and Locke was only in it for the ~ d r a m a ~. As far as an apology letter goes, this book was an utter failure. I liked it as far as providing a different perspective on some of the things that baffled me in The Cruel Prince, but truly added nothing much to the story as a whole.

I have never loathed a character so much - jealousy is a DISEASE taryn
-‘“You’re awful.” He said it as though he was delighted. “And the worst part is that you believe otherwise.”’
