Beth and Mike have a one night stand and the next day he takes her to the beach to look for meteors that fell the night before. Except they aren't meteors, they are deadly and have arrived with unimaginable otherworldly creatures. Beth and Mike are stranded in their car when they lose their car keys and are surrounded by these creatures. 911 is busy, no one else is answering and Beth cannot get a signal on her phone most of the time. And what were the emergency alerts she received the night before that she deleted unread? Are they doomed to perish when the tide comes in? This a horror science fiction story with unique creatures. Thanks to Net Galley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

It turns out not every beautiful meteor shower is an actual meteor shower! It might be a wrinkle in time space continuum that drops stinky alien bowling balls on our shores and shakes our understanding of this world and other planes that we didn't get to see yet.

Human wreck of a person as her mom calls her Beth, and fallen from grace Hollywood producer Mike met on eve of this extraordinary event. Beth was housesitting to have a roof over her head and Mike was planning to end his misery. Instead, they hit it off (thanks to bottles of Dom). In the middle of the night, hoping to execute his plan Mike experienced this crazy event. Beth experienced another, yet more scary version of the same event in her sleep. Next morning was when Pandora's box was opened. Apocalypse might be here already and everyone on the West Coast of the US were oblivious to it until invisible started to do visible deeds.

What happened on the beach that Beth and Mike were stranded after casually going for a drive to see more of these "meteors" was a nightmare fuel. I would love to see this book as a movie. My imagination went little wild with the way events and things were described, so I wonder if others imagine the same! It's an interesting horror sci-fi if you are interested in this genre.

I received this book as a bonus when supply chains altered the contents a book subscription and I’m glad it was included! It’s jam-packed with tension as the story follows two people who are thrown together when, after a drunken one-night stand, find themselves stranded in a car on a beach during an alien apocalypse. It’s a perfect mix of sci-fi and horror. The story is written very visually and I wasn’t surprised to learn that the author had previously been a screenwriter. I suspect that this will be adapted into a Netflix movie at some point.

The blurb says Cujo meets The Quiet Place, but I'd definitely throw The Langoliers in there, too - in form, if not in function. Very solid story, only requiring use of the idiot ball a few sparing times early on. I really liked Beth, who could have been a major irritant in the hands of other authors, but who was so human and identifiable here. I was enjoying the book okay, but the last fifty pages are super.

Fast paced alien invasion. I really enjoyed it and it got me out of my reading slump. I’m excited to see more books by this author.

How does this book not have more ratings or exposure?! Black Tide is a perfect mix of sci-fi, horror and what the building blocks of the human condition are truly made of. Two broken people and a dog take on events of apocalyptic conditions, what more can you ask for? This book was gripping, I could not tear myself away. Read this, just do it!
