This is a really tough book to read. Maybe I'm just not ready to read pandemic related stuff yet, but I found this incredibly well written, incredibly well researched book hard to listen to at times. It covers not only the pandemic related idea of quarantine, but also historical quarantine, plus the quarantine of nuclear material, plant and animal pests, and even deep space research. I learned so much!

Really enjoyed this one.
Thought it would be a "too soon" situation just after covid, but it really put into context the changes that we are seeing and the possible futures that we might experience.

The sections looking at historical quarantines are much stronger. The more modern sections lack the same richness and detail

Thoroughly enjoyed this book about the history of quarantine - interesting that the authors set out to write it quite a bit before Covid 19 hit.

Fantastic! Pairs really well with The Sixth Extinction. This is as much about humanity as it is about disease.
