After reading the Touched by Sin series by this author and loving it, I really looked forward to reading her other books.

This book was not good. I love a good re-telling, especially a spicy one, but the writing and even the plot of this book were just bad. It was a weird mix of historical setting and contemporary language that felt cringy and awkward, plus nothing really made sense. The relationship between Robin and Mariam wasn't compelling, the sudden evilness of the sheriff wasn't compelling, and the friendship between Miriam and her maid (later on, not in the beginning) was weird and riddled with flowery dialogue that didn't fit in at all.

I LOVE Robin Hood stories, so it's really disappointing that this one ended up boring and just plain bad.

Robin Hood has never been one of my favorite stories, but since I love Harleigh Beck’s writing, I decided to give this book a chance. I don’t know what I was expecting, but I do know that I absolutely fell in love with Robin and Marian. This book was incredibly intense and action packed, but it was also so so good!!! Second chance romance in a historical setting turned out to be a delightful combination; Robin was dashing and heroic, and Marian was brave and brilliant. I highly recommend!!!

Holy shit….
Have you thought about hiring a credible editor? I have never in my life seen something so vehemently against its own era. Nothing like the lines “you dodged a bullet.” “I never wanted the bullet aimed at my sister.” To remind you an author does not care. You name drop the crusades enough I would think it would be a catalyst to learn they didn’t have guns??? Or engagement rings for that matter????

Not to mention the fact that we’re just supposed to go from Robin understanding marriage contracts and how unfair they are to women, to believe that after he took her virginity there would be no repercussions to her??? Cool you went to war Robin, but yeah it’s definitely in her control to be forced into another marriage?????

Jesus Christ don’t even get me started on her just having to forgive him for having sex with another woman like he’s Ross Fucking Gellar, but he can call her a whore every two minutes for being betrothed. . .

I liked the writing of this one but I don't usually enjoy Robinhood stories and this one was fine. It was definitely refreshing but just not for me

I received an eArc in exchange for an honest review!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

This was goooood.
Definitely dark & spicy-so check out the trigger warnings if you have any concerns regarding its content.

This is an imaginative retelling of Robin Hood. I loved the childhood connection between him and Marion. I LOVE that she’s not some annoying helpless wisp and that Robin isn’t this perfect man on a high horse.
It has a quick pace, action, heat, and fun.
Multiple POV’s.
It’s definitely a character driven story, with completely modern language, and phrases (there IS an authors note in the beginning) while set in the historical timeline. My only complaint about that was it did jar me out of the story a bit here and there.
It was good!
I recommend this story to my dark spicy romance people!
