This is an absurd story, and if you are in the mood for something ridiculous, you will probably like this. There's a lot of smart humor, a little bit of sweet romance, and a breakneck pace that will have you finishing it in 1-2 sittings.

This was such a fun book to read with the kids. The humor was great for all three of us (kindergartener, 4th grader, supposed adult).

Hilarious book about a kid who buys an impressive fake mustache and then starts taking over the world. I read it aloud to my daughter and she absolutely loved it. The premise is absurd, but it's done in such a fun way that you don't mind.

I saw this book on the library shelf and picked it up because I recognized the author (from the Origami Yoda books). This story is just ridiculous-- it just dives right in at the beginning with no time to build the relationships up. Very quick paced and easy to understand, just too goofy for my taste.

Jody is a WAY more compelling narrator than Lenny. Too bad she didn't tell the whole thing.
On the whole, a mighty odd little book about a magic mustache. Stupid and odd and fun.

I loved Origami Yoda. It was funny and cute. This was good, but not amazing (I'd give this about 3.5 stars). It's about Lenny, a 12 year old boy whose best friend Casper buys a fake mustache and goes for world domination. Lenny has help from Jodie O'Rodeo, former pop sensation.
If you accept the fact that the mustache has some sort of magical powers that causes people to fall under its spell the book is a lot more enjoyable. The plot actually wasn't too weird for me. Jodie O'Rodeo bothered me. She was TOO perfect. It ever mentions how she gets her riding skills or how she can see past Casper's fake mustache. Sher turned the book into a action-romance rather than a action-humor like I was expecting.
On the other hand Angleberger didn't leave out any of his typical weirdness, which I love. Overall an entertaining but not satisfying read.

A little silly for me, but I know my fourth grade boys are going to eat this book up. (A good one for girls too!) I wanted a little more explanation from this book - why did the mustache work so well? How long had Casper been planning this? I liked how the book was told from both Lenny and Jodie's perspective, but I wish we could have heard a little from Casper as well.
