100% recommend listening to the songs before each chapter 1) because they're great and 2) because they are directly what the chapter is about. They're not just like a fitting vibe, they are the content.

i don’t think the formatting helped this book. because there are so many obscure bands mentioned in such quick succession, you end up knowing virtually nothing about any of them. also, it did not provide enough historical background on different events, assuming the reader already knew what she was talking about.
i really wanted to love this because i love punk rock (and i want to know more about women in punk) but the format made it impossible to connect to.
