This is a fine and gentle read, with characters that are perfectly nice.  The drama and the situations are not overly dramatic, murder mystery not withstanding.  This is a story of two characters who like each other and slowly fall in love.  I enjoyed it and it held my interest.  On the negative side, most characters didn't feel especially well-rounded, I expected to see more of the children particularly as she is their governess, the mystery was pretty obvious, and I feel like I wanted a bit more from the characters when it came to the love story.  The heroine was often in the hero's thoughts, but he wasn't in hers as much.  She was supposedly in love with a former suitor (can't see why), but she didn't think of him much at all either.  And then she was pretty quickly in love with the hero, or had she been all along and not realized it?  The writing didn't feel very clear to me there.  It was like we got sneak peaks but not full access to their thoughts.  All in all an enjoyable book but not one I will remember for long.
