I read this last year so don’t remember much. I didn’t enjoy this as much as I hoped it would. I used it for a book report project.

What a lovely, touching and heartbreaking story. I like how this book is so straightforward in dealing with Mia's accident and the subsequent fallout with the aid of flashbacks to flesh out the characters and doesn't resort to unnecessary angst or side plots to amp up the drama. The choice that she has to make is given the appropriate amount of weight that I truly felt the difficulty of her decision and how both options seemed completely reasonable. I am very curious to see what happens in the sequel.

I loved [b:If I Stay|4374400|If I Stay (If I Stay, #1)|Gayle Forman|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1630573973l/4374400._SY75_.jpg|4422413]! It was an emotional rollercoaster that I was happy to hop a ride on. Gayle Forman's writing is smooth and was beautifully crafted. She deserves all the praise she has gotten and much, much more.

This book was decent but a little young for me. I can see how it would be fantastic for a teen or young twenty-something.

I enjoyed this book even more now that I read it for the second time. I decided to read this book because the movie recently came out and I wanted to refresh my memory before watching it because I read this book for the first time about three years ago so I forgot some details about it. My decision was right. Oh my God. So good. I read it in one sitting, it was so quick and very easy to read (not easy for the feels, though). So beautiful. The characters, the plot, everything in this book was great. It was very easy to connect with this book and I really liked how there were flashbacks at the end of each chapter because these flashbacks really introduced us with the whole situations and all the characters. Also, these flashbacks always fitted perfectly and made realistic atmosphere to the whole book. I almost cried at the end. ALMOST! But I didn't. I was sad while reading this book, but not too sad because I already knew how it's going to end. Still, that last part, when Adam talked to Mia, I almost cried. So amazing! The whole idea of this book was amazing and really unique. It was a perfect way to give us the feeling how is it to be in coma and fight. This book sends a beautiful and powerful message and I think that everyone should read this book, at least once. It's short, anyone can do it. I love Gayle Forman's writing style, how she writes simply, but still manages to send a powerful message and give us the feels. Amazing. Now I really want to read the second book in this duology! Also, I'm ready for the movie, but I have a feeling I'll be disappointed. I don't know why, I just have the feeling. Still, if you haven't read this book yet, go read it, because it's fantastic!

SPOILER PART – if you haven’t read the book yet, I recommend not to read any further, go and read the book and then come back.

I already mentioned my favourite scene in the book. It was when Adam was talking to Mia at the very end. My heart broke at that part, it was absolutely beautiful. Almost tears. Also, I really liked the scene when Brooke Vega shows up at the hospital, that part really made me smile because Adam did all that just to get to see Mia for a few seconds. My favourite flashback scene was the one with barbeque and unexpected party. It was one of the happiest moments in the whole book and I really enjoyed reading it. The whole book is beautiful and I enjoyed it a lot, it made me smile and broke my heart at the same time. Not anyone can do that. But Gayle Forman can.

I liked all the characters in this book. But Adam is my favourite, probably. He's maybe done too perfect, in my opinion, but I don't really care because he was amazing and I loved how it was perfectly clear how much he loves Mia and how much Mia loves him. I liked Mia even though I couldn't really connect with her. Actually, I could connect with her at the hospital parts of the book, but in flashbacks, I didn't really understand her because we are totally different, I guess. But I still liked her. I also liked Kim, she was a really good friend and I liked the part when we find out their story, how they hated each other at the beginning but how they later became best friends. So good! I also really liked Mia's parents. They were so cool and they are probably the best parents I had the opportunity to read about, like ever. They were just awesome! Also, all these other 'supporting' characters were okay, whole Mia's family and friends, it was very nice to see that she was not alone even though she lost her closest family. One character that kind of sticks out for me is Mia's grandfather. I liked him a lot, especially when he told Mia that is okay to let go and that he understands if she doesn't want to fight anymore. So good!

I can't really talk about the ending because I already read this book so I knew how it ends. However, I can say that I'm very content with the way it ended and I already said how much I loved that last chapter, that last few pages. Heartbreaking. Beautiful. And I'm glad she stayed, even though I would understand her if she didn't.

I thought this was a great read. It was very tragic and frustrating at times, but it was still hauntingly, and heartbreakingly, beautiful. Not going to lie, I teared up while reading it. This is one of those books that you want to see as a movie. This book would make a perfect movie, the ways it’s written, All the flashbacks. I could see it being portrayed with so much emotion and being kind of a dark film.

I loved all the name drops and references. I loved how unique her family was, but yet so normal at the same time. I loved how her and her boyfriend were so different but so happy together. This book left me thinking about it days after I finished reading it. It’s definitely one that sticks with you.

Wonderfully put together. The way Mia's flashbacks and the current moment is easy to discern. Reminds me of Alice Sebold's The Lovely Bones. Graceful and moving.
