As another review said, this book took an idea from the book series Fallen, and executed it in a much more interesting and heart-felt way. I think its a good book, not my top favorite but I did enjoy it for the most part.

So... overall I liked the book.
I liked the characters as well as the world-building but some things didn't sit right with me.
Furthermore I had a problem with some comments made in the book I can't recall specifically now and the fact that everyone seems to be beautiful (ly thin) in some way upsets me.
Still the story managed to draw me in, to care about the characters.

I'm a big animal friend and I'm intrigued by the concept of opposites, how something cannot exist without an opposite, but the depiction here failed sometimes. The fact that the angels basically colonised the world of the chimaera often fades into the background and the chimaera are still often described as the villain(monsters) because the angels make no appearance except for Akiva's "rightness" and so on; the balance it was probably supposed to be... Is just not there. Even though it is said that the chimaera are intelligent and feeling beings this behavior isn't shown, there is no tender love in Eretz in the chimaera capital described. That makes them seem cruel even though the angels are the "real" enemies.Furthermore I had a problem with some comments made in the book I can't recall specifically now and the fact that everyone seems to be beautiful (ly thin) in some way upsets me.

Ó jesszus...mit olvastam én most? Végre egy YA amiben nem csalódtam egy cseppet sem! Egyedi komplex világfelépítés, érdekes és szerethető karakterek. Engem elvarázsolt, a lehető legjobbkor olvastam.
A könyv első pár oldala már nagyon felkeltette az érdeklődésemet, ez a sötét Prága tökéletes helyszín volt. Az hogy ekkora fejlődésen ment át a könyv az elejétől a végéig az valami hihetetlen. Az be kell valljam hogy az első fele a könyvnek jobban tetszett, de a második felében sem csalódtam.
Főleg YA-nél fennáll az a lehetőség, hogy nem különösebben kedvelem a romantikus szálakat, de itt teljességében meggyőzött.
Ilyenkor örül az ember, hogy ez az első könyv volt a sorozatból, így lesz még mit olvasnom amit nagyon várok :)

Much preferred the first half of the book to the second - after the instalove and Madrigal story, the plot overall felt a little sidetracked. Do love the world and writing though.

Feita de fumaça e osso, surpreendentemente (para mim pelo menos), não é tão conhecido, pensando, é claro, em como algumas coisas ou histórias costumam viralizar de forma repentina nas redes sociais. Descobri o livro através de um vídeo antigo de uma booktuber, onde eu estava buscando indicações de livros de fantasia. Então, comecei a ler de forma despretensiosa, não esperando muita coisa. Por não ser tão popular, a leitura deste livro me surpreendeu a cada página. A escrita da autora, a criação de mundo, cenários e referências, além dos personagens são excelentes. A autora consegue criar uma protagonista jovem adulta de forma muito madura, pois não tira as características e dilemas típicos da idade, nem exagera em estereótipos excessivamente americanizados, conseguindo entrelaçar com um romance sem deixar maçante ou “adolescente” demais pra mim (nada contra romances adolescentes, inclusive gosto de alguns). Inclusive, também, não poderia deixar de citar que o romance é super fofinho e um ótimo pano de fundo para a história.
Agora, adentrando em maiores detalhes da história e spoilers: O movimento da autora de criar um universo onde a magia tem preço e esse preço ser a dor foi um dos pontos altos da história para mim. É chocante descobrir a real utilidade dos dentes e extremamente triste também.O conflito entre quimeras e anjos dá o tom trágico para o romance. Ao entrar nos detalhes do início do romance do casal até o seu fatídico fim, a história muda de tom, fica mais densa e lenta, mas achei extremamente necessário para a história. O plot twist final sobre Karou ser quimera e não uma humana é bem óbvio. Mas a narrativa de como aconteceu é o que torna o plot legal. Sem dúvida é a parte mais sonhadora e romântica do livro, com um final extremamente trágico. Agora, as expectativas para os próximos livros são grandes. O primeiro livro termina de forma bem fechada: quem é Karou é revelado, quem é Akiva, o conflito entre anjos e quimeras, a existência de outro mundo e o preço da magia, mas ficam algumas perguntas: qual a origem do conflito entre quimeras e anjos? Brimstone pode estar vivo? o que acontece com o romance entre Karou e Akiva? as quimeras serão aniquiladas? Entre muitas outras questões.
Sem dúvida um belo livro de fantasia que eu recomendaria demais. Atualmente não é um livro fácil de encontrar e sem dúvida necessita de novas edições em língua portuguesa, a edição em box americana é simplesmente linda e sem dúvida atrairia novos leitores. Um livro 5 estrelas e favoritado que terei um carinho enorme durante um bom tempo!
