Some laugh out loud moments, but it is quite dated.

For what it is it's a 4 star read but I'm taking points off for length and because he was rude to the McDonald's staff in Edinburgh.

They don't want to ask if you want an apple turnover either, pig boy

This book took a lot of work to get through.

Bryson is rude to staff and his book focuses mainly on the negatives of Britain, which reflected on my mood when reading. The only thing that saved him is the way he spoke about the North, however that was in a few short chapters in comparison of the southern coast section that lasted for ages.

I enjoyed this as my first read in the travel genre, so will read more travel books, just not by this author.
