To all those people who didn't finish this book (and I know this thanks to Goodreads): you made a huge mistake. Damaged Goods was even better than Genesis Girl.
We see a more confident Blanca this time and you know what? Even if she doesn't have any superpower, it feels like she has some magic inside. Maybe it's how she thinks. In this book her way of thinking saves her multiple times, I might even start using some Vestal sentences. Seth is a badass as usual, but he can also be a sweet puppy! God I love him. Lucky Blanca. The twists in this sequel are amazing, and honestly? I didn't see any of them coming. It's breathtaking, unputdownable and it will make you fall in love so bad. So so bad.

Blanca has everything she ever wanted, a hot boyfriend and the loving support of her foster father. She’s finally escaped the abusive control of her birth father and her tortured childhood at Tabula Rasa School.

But the scars of Blanca’s Vestal upbringing run deep, especially when the FBI start asking questions.

Blanca feels abandoned by her boyfriend, who is hunting for Lilith, Blanca’s only blood relative. The Defectos, a support group of Vestal-Rejects, offer Blanca comfort which she readily accepts.

While the Vestal order crumbles, Chinese rivals, the Guardians, rise to power and wrest control of important Tabula Rasa contacts. As Blanca’s life is thrown into chaos once more, she struggles to recognize friend from foe, and one miscalculation can have devastating consequences.

3.5 rounded to a 4. Even though this was a bit slow at times, I did enjoy reading this one. The first one was packed with action throughout while this one had it all in the last few chapters.

.
That being said I did enjoy the exploration of Bianca's life and relationships around her so the slower parts and lack of action didn't take much away overall.
.
.
The ending does leave it a bit open and is left to the imagination of the reader to conclude. Not necessarily a bad thing though as you can see where it's headed.

4.5 stars. This was a great follow up to the first novel! The political implications that come up in this second book were fantastic. This book kept my attention from start to finish.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review

Unfortunately, Damaged Goods fell a little short to me. I personally feel the first novel had a really solid conclusion, and a few of the conflicts in this sequel didn't fully make sense to me. Something I did enjoy though, was the involvement of political ideas and the controversy of having a school such as Tabula Rasa. Damaged Goods also didn't hold my attention as much as Genesis Girl did, and I think it was because my mind for some reason didn't want to accept these new conflicts. I did find Blanca's struggle with basically realizing she grew up in a cult was very intense and raw, and it added depth to the story. With all of that being said, I still think that Genesis Girl is very interesting and definitely worth the read if the premise interests you!

I also want to thank Jennifer Bardsley Again for providing me with a free copy in exchange for review.

This was a fun conclusion hut unfortunately I did not love this as much as book one. I felt like this book focused far too much on romance for my taste and lost some of the really unique world building of book one. That aside I really enjoyed this duology quite a bit and I would recommend it for a fun and unique sci fi read.
