I thought this was a great thriller, and I was hooked from the start. There was never a dull moment and it was just one of the best books I was able to enjoy in awhile. Grayson is hired to find a a dog as she is a PI, but the case is not quite what she thought it was going to be. It was a mystery and thriller with some romance. Gray is a great character and her friends were fun as well.

This was a mystery I was shocked by and enjoyed. I could not put this down, and I would suggest this to anyone who wants a thriller with sass that will leave you amazed.

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Tor/Forge for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Grayson Skyes, is a PI on her first mission. She is to find a missing woman - Isabel Lincoln. It seems that Isabel voluntarily took off with her boyfriend’s dog Kenny G to “escape” from him. Naturally Gray and all us readers suspect abusive boyfriend. But did he really abuse Isabel? What is the backstory? It is upto Gray to find out the truth, alongside dealing with her own trauma.

The story is promising, it did hold my complete interest for 40% of the book - its a 500 page novel, so its still over 200 pages! Moving further into the story, I felt pulled back from the characters despite their development! I honestly wanted to finish the novel and the pacing helped me. Now that I think about it, there are some sub-plots that did not contribute towards the main story. Also the metaphors. They seemed rich and smart at first, but they mentally wore me towards the end. Oh that ending

This is the second book I've read by Hall. The only issue I had with this book and the previous are pointless details. So many unnecessary details make the book long for no reason. The story itself was good.

This book was a bit disappointing. The author put in all the work to build up the mystery just to wrap up the ending unsatisfactorily in about 10 pages. I was disappointed by the way finding Isabel Lincoln was resolved, I was disappointed by the ending of Gray's backstory with her ex-husband, but I was most disappointed by the ending the author gave Gray. She had the chance to be an independent woman, finally standing on her own without fear, and instead, she dumps her into a new relationship.

And Now She’s Gone

First of all, get ready because I am going brag on this book so much! I love a good missing person book and this one was AMAZING! Grayson Sykes the protagonist was such a great character. I adored her wit, her strength, and her overall fierce-ness. I am crushing on Gray pretty hard right now. I really hope we get to see her in more books, please and thank you @rhowzellhall!

This book was a big one but honestly it was so well written, I read it so fast, I barely noticed the length. I was drawn right into the story from the first chapter. The twists and turns were spaced throughout the book which kept me turning those pages waiting for what comes next.

This book is a story about broken people. Grayson is a new private investigator working her first solo case, trying to find Isabel Lincoln. As Gray works the case she begins to think that Isabel was abused by her boyfriend prior to going missing. That makes this case personal, Gray barely escaped her abusive husband with her life.

As Gray delves deeper into Isabel’s life she starts to realize everything is not what it appears. Just as the case picks up speed, Gray receives a text from her abusive ex letting her know he’s finally found her. Gray now has to look over her shoulder as she tries to find Isobel and stay alive. Everything culminates in a shocking, heart pounding ending that actually left me satisfied. I truly enjoyed this book so much! Thank you
@BookSparks @rhowzellhall and @forgebooks for a copy of the book for my review.

And Now She’s Gone by Rachel Howzell Hall
A feminist thriller. DUH.

Ok my one gripe with the audio book: the voice actress. There is a long bar scene where the main characters friends are wasted and I could hardly stand the narrator doing drunk girl voice.

Okay, I am now 50% through this book and I am finding it boring. Grey, the main character is a first time PI, who is pretty shitty at her job. She also is very consumed with sex which is not very necessary IMO.

But this is an interesting thriller because it lightly discusses issues such as race and gender.

So, it took a while to get into the opposing timelines and POV's but once you get into it and start to understand who is who you really don't want to put it down until you figure everything out. I do think that the pacing was great up until the end where I think it was definitely a little bit rushed but I'm not mad at it.

I think the main characters story and background etc. brought a lot to the table in terms of conversations and perspective, I had a hard time reading certain scenes because the book deals with a lot of her trauma but the unfortunate truth is that way to many people are victims of domestic violence so it's important to have this portrayed. It might even help people realize they can get out of the situation but oftentimes it's so dangerous and I wish it really wasn't.

I did not see some of the plot twists coming, and trust me they kept coming. Overall a very interesting mystery book that definitely deals with some hard themes, but with a slightly rushed ending and I wanted to see a certain someone get their dose of karma and that doesn't happen on page.

This is a great, very complex book. It not only involves two main characters who have a confusing past AND present, but one character not only has to deal with her changing life (and keeping away from her past), she has to chase another character whose whole live is spent on changing who she is.

There are few books that I hand to my wife and say, "Read this!" This was one, and I couldn't get it in her hands fast enough. Highly recommended!
