Grace for President explains the election process in easy to understand terms. This book would be a great title to add to a president, or election book bundle.

Great concept, wonderful illustrations. A few things bothered me: one candidate gave out cupcakes, one was sideways shamed for continuing on with normal activities while the other was doing good deeds. The whole idea of learning about the states (even down to costumes) was very cute. When it came right down to it, it appears that the boys chose a boy, the girls chose a girl.. until the equality state, which worked out well. I wish that boy had not been portrayed as a nerd.

I feel that many other kids would also be confused as to why there have not been any female presidents. Grace's determination to get electoral votes from her classmates for her campaign is inspiring. I especially loved how once she won and asked Wyoming why he voted for her, his reply was "because you were the best candidate." This is how voting should be...not about popularity/name/or achievements, but who is best for the job.

An excellent story about the democratic process and electoral college through the lens of a elementary school election. Grace wants to run for class president, but is up against a tough opponent, Thomas. When the electoral college votes are handed out Thomas thinks he has the win in the bag because the boys have more than the girls. The decision all comes down to one boy in the end.

This could be used in a classroom to teach about the electoral college and to promote the idea of perseverance and voting for the right reasons.

I enjoyed this one. Great message but also liked the way the whole electoral votes were described.
