Might be one of Camus’ most popular 'quotes', which is often used in multiple social media platforms in 'aesthetic' posts with absolutely no concern or care for context of the line itself. I was always quite indifferent to it, only because if it were up to me, I would change the placements of the words ‘summer’ and ‘winter’ – ‘in the midst of summer, I find in me an invisible winter’, yes, like this.

If I actually love ‘summer’ or anything ‘summery’ more, I would say that I’m reading this to inaugurate the season or something like that. But being born in the later end of the year, I think my heart is definitely frost-inclined. Essentially, I was just reading this casually to test how rusty my ‘French’ has become. For that intention alone, I think this may be the perfect book. However not fully five stars, only because of how there are better ‘compilations’ of Camus’ essays available now in comparison to when this was published? Some of the essays in ‘L’été’ are also available in Camus’ [b:Personal Writings|50165174|Personal Writings|Albert Camus|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1592244422l/50165174._SY75_.jpg|75108821], and [b:The Myth of Sisyphus and Other Essays|54542024|The Myth of Sisyphus and Other Essays|Albert Camus|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1594816415l/54542024._SY75_.jpg|855563] to name a couple. But this book costs a little less than a latte in a cafe, so with that in mind, it’s still a pretty decent one to have around to satisfy the odd literary cravings whenever. Readers can expect from ‘L’été’ – Camus’ regular dose of absurdism, appreciation for beauty/’nature’, and/but also a bit of shade here and there on la vie parisienne.
