Skipped the first book in the series (read a general plot summary) and jumped straight into this one because the reviews were better. Not disappointed! Lovely romance and likable protagonists, I was very invested in their HEA. A good amount of humor but enough drama/angst to keep me interested. NGL I skipped to the end to see what Damaris' *tragic backstory* entailed, I was just getting tired of it being mentioned over and over again without any light being shed on it. I don't think that spoiler ended up taking anything away from the novel. Would definitely recommend to anyone who likes HRs.

There are too little scenes with the MCs and too much about other side characters. I should give up on Anne Gracie.

3.5 actually. This is the second book of the series. The series is ok to read and makes for a nice romance story. I picked this up because it sounded like a Christmas story but it is not. They do celebrate Christmas but not until the very end and not much is described about it. Mostly this is a romance story. One interesting point is that the author has a quote from Jane Austin at the beginning of each chapter. Some trigger warnings.

I really enjoyed this one - Damaris and Freddy are both wonderful, and both so desperately in need of someone to save them. It was beautiful watching them save each other.
