Listened to this audiobook on Libby (and finished on audible - thanks Jordan!)

I write these words in steel, for anything not set in metal cannot be trusted.

This was a really great follow up to The Final Empire. The rubbing that we were given the pieces of between chapters in this one was such a good tool for the story too. The different character arcs are what really stuck out for me in this one though, compared to a really captivating plot in the first novel. I loved Sazed's arc through this part - I was heartbroken for him in so many ways, and I'm so curious to see how these events change him going into Hero of Ages. I also spent a lot of the book wanting to absolutely throttle Elend. Zane's character was almost insufferable - he was giving edge-lord vibes the whole time and it was just too much for me. Overall, I am continuing to be delighted by Vin's story and the worldbuilding from Sanderson in this story.

Well written, but Brandon Sanderson rarely makes not well written books. Honestly, this was boring until the last 150 pages or so. I feel like there was nothing that really happens through this book, it's a situation and that gets increasingly complicated, but it feels like the situation that is set up does not seamlessly flow into the conclusion of the book. Some of the new characters are slightly cringy and unnecessary, a main character is not very likable which makes it hard to continue sometimes.  The last 150 pages are a 4/5 at the very least, but the journey to that point was long and not necessary.

Though I found Mistborn to be good, The Well of Ascension is great!

The world building is immersive, and the intrigue is captivating. There's definitely a reason Sanderson has such a fan following.
