The man wore heavy Italian hiking boots which he used to kick through the rubble covering the floor.

Josie Pigeon has inherited Island Contracting and runs an all female crew of workers. The ladies are working on a huge renovation project when Josie discovers a body in the house. She is concerned about her deadline for work completion and hides the body until she can figure out what to do. Unfortunately the body is mysteriously moved again before she can contact the police. Sam is a former attorney who now owns the liquor store on the island. He gets involved in the case and tries to help Josie clear her employees of the crime.

It is amazing the difference that 20 years can make in writing. I enjoyed the characters but felt that the language was at times stilted. Moving the body sort of freaked me out! I kept want to scream at Josie for doing that. And Sam should have definitely known better. The premise of an all female construction crew was more fresh and forward than it is today. Working in a bikini made me cringe as well. The lack of cell phones was amusing in that the ladies had to run to the liquor store to use a phone.

Although it was a good mystery, I'm not sure that I would continue with the series.
