Overall, a good story. Three stars instead of four because the first 25% of the book was repeats from other books. I'm glad it turned out to have more original content after that. I wondered how Warren was going to churn out three books in less than six months, so I get adding in chunks from other novels may have been in her best interest.

Luckily, Conner and Liza's story ended up with a happy ending. There was a great amount of suspense in this book. I'm sure I will read the final book in this series as well.

The author had authentic detail in her story. As a traveler, it always excites me to read about areas I have visited. When Conner and Liza are in Sedona, they go to Oak Creek Canyon, which really isn't that far from Sedona.

I picked up this series for a binge read and it was glorious! One thing is clear from the very first line, this series is saturated with intense action and adventure. If the fires and smokejumpers don’t make you sweat, the sizzling romance is sure to heat things up! Clear your calendar for this series, reader friends, because it is nearly impossible to put down!

I borrowed this series through the Kindle Unlimited program. The opinions expressed are my own.

I enjoyed this story more than the first. The characters were more believable but that could also be because I knew them from the last book (and other series). I died when Deep Haven and Montana collided. I love how seamlessly Warren pushes together the lives of her characters, even though they are from different series, they live in the same world. It is amazing to see their lives intertwine and I wanted to go back and flip through all of my Cristiansen and Deep Haven Books as well as the Montana Rescue Series and Noble legacy books to catch glimpses of well done overlapping events and to spend time with secondary characters that show up again. So well done, enthralling, highly recommend Warren to anyone with a spirit for adventure and thrill as well as some Jesus loving/trust and romance.

Playing With Fire (Montana Fire Book 2) by Susan May Warren – In between trying to solve the mystery of the fire setting drones, Liza and Connor have to confront the pain of their pasts and decide if they have the courage to make promises to each other in the midst of uncertainty. So sweet! Happy Reading!

I liked this book in the series better than the first one. But I think that is in part due to the fact that a friend told me that the mystery wouldn't be solved at the end. I would have been disappointed at the end had I not gone into the book already knowing that. This one also had a bit more suspense than the first book which I liked. The struggles that the main characters went through with God were real and relatable. I did kind of roll my eyes though by the time the bear showed up for what seemed like the dozenth time.

AWESOME! !!!!!

ll just let me get my inner SMW fangirl under contol.............I have been waiting YEARS for this story!!!!!!!
Ever since I read 'Happily Ever After'I have wondered if Warren was ever going to give Liza her own story. We caught glimpses of her in other books and I never forgot her.
I also loved that she tied Connor in from the Team Hope series, and the snippets from the Christiansen series AND characters from the Montana Rescue books(I am rambling but I can't help it!).
I loved the action and the way Warren can sweep you into the moments that her characters are living.
The Christian message was perfect and well delivered. Looking forward to the next one!

Fresh out of adrenaline? Don’t worry. Read this book and your cup will runneth over! I could feel my pulse pounding in every square inch of my body for more than half of this novel, and I’m still not sure whether the romance or the search and rescue should take the greater part of the blame! Needless to say, Susan May Warren has turned out a fabulous second instalment in her Montana Fire series. In fact, I enjoyed this one even more than the first.

While the prologue hooks us firmly into the main story, with Liza’s grizzly confrontation, the opening chapters take us back three years ago to Deep Haven and the fire that sweeps through in Take a Chance on Me, the first novel in Susan May Warren’s Christianson Family series. Over the course of the first few chapters, we are able to see how Conner and Liza’s friendship developed, and from the beginning I could feel the depth of the emotional connection between them, going way beyond simple physical attraction.

These two are a little less fiery (if you’ll pardon the pun) than Jed and Kate from the first book in the series, and I identified more with the quiet intensity of Conner’s and Liza’s personalities as they tried to keep their friendship within the boundaries they had set for themselves; because when it comes down to it, Conner refuses to make any promises when it obvious he has no control over what might happen to him in the future. And Kate refuses to give her heart to someone who won’t promise any tomorrows. But that romantic tension – mm, mm! Loved it!

In contrast to the first few chapters, the rest of the book is an intense 48 or so hours as Liza, Conner, and a small crew of searchers try to find Shep and Esther – two teens who have gone missing from Camp Blue Sky. Oh yeah - and the Feds are after Conner for questioning because some arson specialists are claiming the drones he has been working on have been causing fires in the area. But when Conner receives the phone call from a frantic Liza there’s no question who tops his list of priorities.

The search and rescue was totally gripping, and responsible for the majority of my pulse pounding. Precarious drops, a raging river, and the ever-present threat of that prowling grizzly, and yet Liza and Conner were also able to confront and work through the issues surrounding their relationship breakdown – both personal and spiritual – in a way that felt totally organic to the story. Wow! Talk about packing a punch! And did I mention the romantic tension and the kisses? *fans self*

I particularly liked that both Conner and Liza were strong Christians, but had to look more closely at whether they were truly living out their belief in God's promises; not necessarily for a happy ending, but that He will work out their future happiness and suffering alike for their good. How often do we hold back, missing out on God's blessings because of a fear of what may happen some time in the future?

And yes. The Feds do eventually catch up with Conner...

Yep. This one’s a winner. On all counts.

FULL OF ADVENTURE!

This book starts off with running and it continues until the end.
I was holding my breathe through the while book.
I don't think I'll ever go hiking again.
I don't know if I could stay as calm as Liza or Conner did while they were searching for Esther. My heart was racing through the whole book. It seemed like one thing after another kept happening to them.
Susan May Warren is a FANTASTIC author and has brought us another fast moving, high energy, gut wrenching, full of action story. With a little bit of romance and wonderful words about God's promises and love for us.
I highly recommend this book to read, but I must caution you.......you wouldn't be able to put it down and you might not get much sleep!
