I really enjoyed this take on the story or Hades and Persephone. The writing in the book can be a little repetitive or cringy sometimes, but overall it’s a good book.

A very cliche plot line with such fantasy romance tropes as “ancient being pursues inexplicably alluring 20-something-year-old” but made up for by the excellent tension building and chemistry. Also slightly less creepy than usual when you consider both main characters are immortal gods and one is just younger.

Y'all are ridiculous. This book is so good.

I felt that it was a perfect look at the adult side of Persephone and Hades' relationship. The sex was magical, the banter was so good, and fuck this book is so hot????

I mean, I ship them and will die for them at this point. I don't even care.

I see a lot say Persephone is "bratty" but honestly... if you were dating Hades, you would also have self-conscious issues as he is 900 years old. Imagine who he has dated and fucked? I mean, I would feel the same.

I also love the college aspect of Persephone and that she travels back and forth to the underworld. I also love that they are stuck in these close situations where they almost kiss and fucking hell, y'all!!!

I love this entire novel and thought it was fantastically written! I did not expect the prose to be so gooooood.

I love this for me. Onto the next! 😉

"But it was harder than that. Obeying meant she could stay in the mortal world, and that was what Persephone wanted, even if it wasn't fun."
This was a fun, original retelling of the Hades x Persephone myth and many Greek myths in general. It was nice seeing a variety of gods - Thanatos (yay, he's getting attention!), Aphrodite, Hermes, and so on. It was also fun seeing a couple of the mortals featured in the myths, particularly Adonis and Tantalus. Lexa supported Persephone throughout this book, which I 100% loved. Demeter's character was well fleshed out, although I am pretty much worn by how many retellings (novels, fanfiction, etc.) portray her as the controlling mother. (Yes, this is how she appears to be in the original myths, but I feel like authors can take a bit of creative license on the Demeter & Persephone relationship at this point in the game.) I did really enjoy this book. There were parts of it that had me asking "really?" - such as all the ups and downs Hades and Persephone had at the end of the book (maybe the last 50-75 pages) and all the almost/sort of neutral chaos that was attached to those ups and downs. I understand why it happened, and it fit well within the book. I just wish it maybe had another 100 pages so the ending didn't feel rushed.

This book wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t great…
The plot, characters, and romance were weak and the smut felt like it was written by a virgin with a thesaurus. I saw another review that said that Hades was just a knock-off Rhysand and I couldn’t agree more.
Overall it was bearable but not m favourite. I’m on the fence as to whether I will read the rest of the series.
