This is my second by this author, and I think audio for me was the way to go. It was a long one, but by the end, I found myself riveted by this upstairs/downstairs story of love and sisterhood.

a wonderful novel for those who enjoy a slow-paced, suspenseful, drama-filled, historical fiction enhanced with a gothic undertone!

I wanted to read this book all the way through, but I stopped around 65%. I decided to skim the rest because I wasn't interested enough to read every word to the end. Another reason I skimmed is because I did not really like where the story was headed. I realize that may not be a good reason to not finish a book, but oh well. I did like some of the characters and the plot was interesting, so I would recommend to people who like historical romance.

I gave it three stars only because it reminded me so much of Downton…
