Agatha Christie famously disappeared for 11 days following her husbands announcement that he was in love with someone else. She has never discussed, or revealed the true nature of her disappearance maintaining that she does not remember.
Told from the perspective of Nan O’dea, her husbands mistress, The Christie Affair tells a story of what could have happened.

Plus the author cleverly slips in a
Christie-esque mystery, which for me was the best part of the story.

Well written and interesting however this book was a 3.5-4 stars when it could have been a definite 5.
I didn’t love the character development as AC was sometimes portrayed as weak and almost vapid. And not the incredibly brilliant and strong woman that I would like to think she was.

I enjoyed the premise of this book and, though I’m an outlier here, I did like the narration style and how the plot unfolded. In addition to being very entertaining, it also left me wanting more details about the actual 11 day disappearance of Agatha Christie. To me, this is a measure of a successful Historical Fiction novel. I struggled to write a review and assign a rating when I first completed the novel because there is one absolutely maddening plot hole concerning a scene between the narrator and her first love. With time I settled in and focused on the intrigue and imaginative story and tried to forget the plot hole when assigning my rating, though even as I write this review I’m reminded of it. If you’ve read the book, I’m sure you’ll know what I mean. Overall I’m glad I read it!
