The audiobook version of this is very poor quality, from crystal clear audio clips to clips that sound like they've been dropped in a bath tub and we are listening to it under water.

Although I really enjoyed this, I think giving it anything more than 3* would be unfair. I think it would be a 5* rating if i read an illustrated version of this.

A wonderful insight into the magical universe.

Really enjoyed the audiobook, as they provided sound effects for each creature.

This is a review of the audiobook specifically, read by Eddie Redmayne and with updated information. I am glad they updated the beasts, but the added forward felt a bit forced. Eddie was of course excellent and bits of sound added a nice touch, but it still is a textbook like book being read. It was missing the special touch scribbles from Harry and Ron added to the 2001 version! Relaxing, but lacking a storylike pull. For first time readers I would recommend a physical copy first! 2018 Pop Sugar Challenge - A book mentioned in another book

Wanted to read this before I got the film on DVD and so I listened to the Audio Book! Loved it very much and now know much more about the wizardering world.

I'm giving this one three stars, not because I didn't like it. I loved it. The idea of me being able to look up all the magical creatures in HP is awesome and I live it! That being said, this really is just a fantasy cyclopedia and that's fine but not enough for me to rate it higher than three.
There's no story to tell. It's not that kinda book, but it's great for a true potter head to really live themselves into the magical world.

Side note! No I mean mine had side notes. It was suppose to look like I was sitting with Harry's original copy with his notes (witch are hilarious) and Ron and hermione gives a few too.
I don't know if it's like that it n all of them, but I read the 'Hogwarts library' edition

If not in yours then here's a few of my favorites:

What is a beast? 'A big hairy thing with too many legs'

(On the subject of basilisks)
[...] and there have been no recorded sighting of Basilisks in Britain for at least four hundred years. 'That's what you think'

Hungarian horntail
Supposedly the most dangerous of all dragon breeds,[...] 'you're not kidding'
