I knew there was darkness coming when I left the last story. This story gets darker in the telling of Word Speakers and their Guardians. These stories are not stand alone, although the author does give you some backstory to give you a hint of what's going on it's better to read these stories in order so you know the characters, and how strange, crazy, delicious, and wonderful this world is.
I'm glad Dale is getting his story. Although I did not sense how dark he could get. The story that he starts reading due to a bargain with Leather Coat might not have been his best choice, but it is his hearts choice. That I believe. He was meant to meet Breena. And she's got a darkness all her own. In order to save their stories they are going to have to work together, harder than any other Guardian and Word Speaker team yet. But will their love bring them to the light? Or will they fall to the side of the dark?
I always growl at myself when I let these stories sit and I don't get to read them. I think I have an ulterior motive though, I don't want to leave this world that the author weaves with seemingly ease.
