similarly to other people who read this series, i was not a huge fan of colm in the previous books— especially fearless king. however, his character development was the best out of all the characters in this series. he redeemed himself by the very end, and i have never been prouder of a fictional man before. his character was a very important representation, especially to people dealing with grief and severe trauma.

i must say, out of all the books in this series, this is probably the most realistic one. though i don’t think i’ll be in this situation (and i never wish to), i can see a lot of people going through the same thing. and i really liked that element of this book, it made me cry, laugh, and overall had a wonderful time reading it.

like other readers, i’m not a huge fan of the pregnancy trope. although i enjoyed reading this book, i thought that everything was rushed, especially after the accidental pregnancy— and that threw me off— especially that half of the book dealt with the pregnancy trope.

one thing i have also noticed is how maya’s writing style improved as the series went on. that being said, i’m looking forward to read her newer releases by this year as well.
