I read this as an ebook after watching benjaminoftomes' video raving about it. I didn't have a physical book with me and thought 'why not?' Though I didn't think I'd like it that much.
BOY WAS I WRONG.
This book, in short was amazing. At times I thought that it was a bit fast paced, and I really didn't understand the logic behind the science (I study human biology, so it really did irk me), but overall it was a fun, easy read. Aurora, though her story is somewhat unique, is a really relatable character, which is fantastic for a first person POV. Alas, I would love to own these as a physical copy, but it's a tad expensive, and iBooks is offering me instant delivery, so maybe someday. I am very excited now to read Northern Bites.

Aurora Sky wasn't the book for me. I was looking for an original vampire story, but I didn't find that in this book. Although the idea was nice, it just didn't work out.
After almost dying Aurora becomes a vampire hunter, this should be the start of an epic story. Instead Aurora changes, starts doing strange stuff. Most of the story just didn't make sense to me. The beginning was a bit confusing and most of the times I had no idea where the story was going and actually didn't care at all. The only reason I finished this book so fast was so I could start a new book.
I didn't really got to know the characters, we do get some info about them, but it all fell a bit flat. Aurora is flat person and I couldn't understand her actions at all. Most of the time I had no idea why she was acting like she was. I didn't feel with her, I didn't feel her emotions and I just didn't care about anything she did. The side characters are even worse, her mom only get's angry or wants to talk. We don't even get to know anything about her dad excepts that he has a busy job. Her friends aren't interesting and even Aurora doens't seem to care about them. Noel and Dante are the only side character that get's some attention and even I have no idea who they are and why they do what they do.
The world building was the most disapointing part. There was almost no explanation at all. There was some explanation about vampire hunters and vampires, but it didn't really make sense. Also in most vampire book you at least get to hear which myths are right and which are wrong, but here there isn't even that. At the end of the book I still don't know much about this world and the vampires, the world didn't come alive.
To conclude: this just wasn't the book for me. The story wasn't interesting, I didn't care about the characters and din't understand them, there was almost no world building and the world didn't make sense because of that.

Aurora was a sarcastic, and sometimes carefree girl at first but all that changed when she got into an accident that changed her life. After that she just got into the denial and angry phase, drastically changing her into a different person. I admit I hated her for unleashing her frustrations to others, constantly getting her in trouble. At the same time, it also got her to be close to Fane, the last guy on earth she'd expect to attracted to. Being with him changed Aurora again, this time for the better. This, being a vampire hunter, also made Aurora to lose her useless of a friend and made new ones who actually cared for her. The girls were surprisingly nice to her, because they had something in common: they knew vampires exist. Which obviously made Aurora feel not so alone anymore.
Like I said, most of the time Aurora was being sarcastic. It was what made me like her. It was like that accident sucked off her humor and emotions. Then came Fane. I like how the spark between Aurora and Fane sizzled. It was the most unlikely relationship because Fane was odd and indefferent before Aurora's accident. Yet as they got to know each other Fane turns out to be quite a nice person contrary to what Aurora thought.
I love how Aurora was made into a vampire hunter instantly and not trained since birth or borned to be one. The decision was made without her knowing it, and she has no other choice than to accept this new life.
I also like how the vampire hunters are different than the typical ones. By utilizing science and technology, they have created a deadly living weapon to fight off the bad vampires and keep world peace.
Overall, this is a pretty good book which I enjoyed thoroughly. A bit dark-themed with a handful of delicious romance, I'd recommend it to people who wants a different kind of vampire hunters. Great read; 4 stars!

A great start to the series! And definitely like no other Vampire Hunter books.
Aurora is signed up to a government section in return for saving her life after a lethal car crash. In fact, her mum signed her up for it.
Aurora is NOT happy. She just wanted a normal life, to graduate and to attend Notre Dame Uni and get the heck out of Alaska!
Now she cant. She cant move out of Alaska. Shes stuck and has a little rebel against it. The mysterious Fane suddenly appeals to her.....not sure why.....but all is revealed....and no matter what she cannot help wanting to be with him.
She is introduced to the vampire world in many different ways. In the government section she now has to obey, she is sent on assignments with new partner, Dante, she attends vampire house parties, she socialises with informants and vamps alike.

I really enjoyed this series - I read it all binge-style over the course of a week or so (well... waiting on no 6 later this year). They are fast reads - definitely YA. I liked the characters most of whom had at least a little complexity to them. Pretty violent as all vampire books are...

I tried to get into this book, but I really didn't like attitude of the main character, especially since she just tossed her virginity away like it didn't matter. Bad attitude.
The sentences/grammar I wasn't too fond of, lots of choppy sentences. There were a few times that I felt kind of lost when something happened too, and there was hardly any description during what I read.

Aurora Sky by Nikki Jefford is the first book in the Aurora Sky Vampire Hunter series. Aurora is injected with a virus that makes her blood toxic to vampires. Now she is on a secret mission to kill vampires and save humans. Besides that she has to deal with other teenager problems like gossip and love.
I don't know where to start with this book. There was not a single character that I loved or liked. All of them were pretty annoying, especially Aurora. Here experience with death completely messed with her. She started to be rebellious, but the dumb kind. She put herself into dangerous situations and was annoying all the time. I get that she went through some serious shit and that her accident and her new job were not handled well, but her character is just annoying. Fane and Dante were okay characters. Dante is like a fun big brother that is here to annoy you. I don't have any strong feelings for Fane. Even though he is the love interest in this book, he seems more like a side character to me.
I also could not handle all the teenage drama that happened throughout the story. Constant jealousy, nasty gossip and "who am I in love with". Just not my type of favourite plot. Maybe I just grew out of these tropes. Which is okay. But I just don't like this anymore. What I found good is the idea of the story. I've read many many books about vampires as I LOVED vampires in the past (Twilight is saying hello). But this book has a different concept of vampires then others' I read. And I really think this idea is good! But to be honest, this is the only really good thing about this book.
I can not recommend this book and will not read the other books in this series. The idea of the story is really good, but the story itself was annoying and I did not like the characters.

A decent introduction to a series. Great characters and really engaging plot. However, it ended so abruptly to the point where it left me with little reason to continue on.
I am not really into romance novels but I bought this book on a whim awhile. If you like vampires and some romance mixed with action, then this is not a bad novel to read. I enjoyed it until the end.
