3.5 ☆ — la coscienza di zeno é stata il mio pallino circa due anni fa, quando lessi per la prima volta una citazione che mi colpí tantissimo ed ero ossessionata con la psico-analisi. non é stata una lettura come me l'aspettavo (ovviamente), ma in ogni caso mi é piaciuta.
l'amore di zeno per le donne é stato il motivo per cui non ho dato 4 stelle. quella continua ossessione mi ha onestamente schifato, e pensare che i personaggi femminili di questo libro sono fantastici. ho amato tutte le donne, augusta in particolare <3 my beloved
però c'é da dire che zeno cosini é costruito APPOSTA per essere un antieroe ironico e far ribollire il sangue del lettore. penso di aver passato piú tempo ad insultarlo e a tentare di capire come facesse a pensare certe cose che quasi mi divertivo. alla fin fine é solo un uomo malato che imperterrito annuncia di essere sano come un pesce, continuando invece a fornire prove che lo é, e anche grandemente. per questo leggere dei suoi ragionamenti, delle sue ossessioni, delle sue “ultime sigarette” mi ha anche fatto sorridere.

I think Svevo must have realized this book was to long. The beginning and the end were much stronger than the rest, both conceptually and on a more micro level. I really liked the first section of this and would recommend treating it like a short story. Too bad other portions (the business section in particular) were such a slog.
I don't understand why many people find this book remarkable. I'm calling bullshit.
