Such a fun read of death and love. I loved the different houses and found that this book had me on the end of my seat until the very end!

It takes a bit of effort to jump into and roll with learning about the characters and world as you go, but damn is it worth it. The narrative is so cleanly built up and followed through and the characters are an absolute joy. I desperately love Gideon and Harrow and they made me cry multiple times, once onto my sandwich at lunch. It'll take a bit for me to get to it, but I'm very interested in following the story further.

Amazing book, but I think I won't be reading the next one. The characters (mostly Gideon) were fun. The ending is a completely another story. I enjoyed my time reading it and would recommend it to all the queer fantasy fans with a love for necromancy magic and sarcastic characters.

One of the best science fiction/fantasy books I have read. The ending was not my favorite, but it does push me to read the next one immediately - so I suppose it was effective!
