I have mixed thoughts about this book. It's unfortunate, because the action sequences are well written in the aspect of keeping you riveted, however, there are a lot of faults, too.
- Again, this author is obsessed with constantly fat shaming and food shaming and that is a HUGE turn off.
- This one had way more interpersonal drama and it just was too much for me.
- Nelson is chalked up to be some gruff man with a heart of gold, but he seems mostly like a jerk on the verge of being bigoted, meh.
I love the history elements, I love the mystery elements, and the pace of the action, but I am not sure if I'll bother continuing the series for the reasons listed above. Especially, the constant negative talk about body image and food shaming. Just, ugh. It's so low brow and basic. It's a pity, because these could be great books.

I really enjoy this series and the characters. Two headed calf, mysterious Latin phrases and a well from which I wouldn’t want to drink.

The book has a lot of references to the previous one in the series. It continues to have an interesting line, story, the background stories and the relationship between the characters continues to develop nicely. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Another solid crime mystery thriller and I flew through it but what is the deal with the weight obsession?! So unnecessary.

Elly Griffiths is a genius! Not only does she write a great murder mystery that suprises you right until the end, she also writes believable, loveable characters. I couldn't put it down and I really wish I had the third book!
