Absolutely insane. Probably my favorite of the Greek plays, but this one hits hard - all about human passions and insanity and all that fun stuff. Dionysus was a really interesting character, but I loved Agave and I stand by the fact that it wasn’t her fault. Men just love to blame women smh. But def a good read I recommend

I recently read without pleasure the Murray translation, which, along with being prose, is just too old. I prefer this version, by Woodruff, with Elvis on the cover.

I read the Murray prose translation. I recommend seeking out a versified version.

I read the Arrowsmith verse translation. Better, but still the bad guy wins, and he is a god. King is dismembered. Over-rated.
