I don’t want to be mean because I love formula 1 and I like to be encouraging when it comes to f1 romance because there’s hardly any out there BUT dear lord this was a very hard read for me.

I think to start off with the dynamics are crazy, he’s her boss that’s 18 years older… and her family is the cartel?!? The plot also went from 0 to 100 in like 3 chapters, it was like getting whiplash. Definitely was potential in the storyline but the execution just wasn’t there.

----- E N G L I S H ------
Receiving an ARC is a complicated situation because on the one hand you have a book that excites you but on the other you are afraid that you won't like it and I think a lot of things happened with Morphine. Besides, it's Sam Lynn's first book, so it scares me more.
The main character of the story is Ale, who is the first woman to make the jump to F1 where she meets Luca, who is her boss. Their first meeting is not very pleasant, it does not happen in the best way.
I liked both characters but I connected more with Ale than with Luca and despite the fact that it is a dual POV, most of these are from Ale, therefore I think it gave me more freedom to get to know her.
There are things that I liked and there are things that I didn't.
Within what I liked was how Ale is, I think he is a character who, more than strong, is a character who shows what fairness is and more so being in a world where most of the time it is dominated by men and "traditions" I think It is my second book about F1 and I must say that I loved that this aspect is never left aside and even shows you some aspects of the sport that are even quite understandable and even more so when you know nothing about the sport.
Sam's level of writing is amazing, the scenarios that he presents to you for each place are incredible, sometimes I skip these parts because I really can't imagine some things, but this woman explained each place to me and in my mind it was so clear and the details of history is an incredible plus.
Now among the things that I would have liked is to know more about the relationship that Ale has with Violetta, León and her father.
SpoilerI think I need to develop a little more the relationship with each one, see how she handled being her father's daughter or being in the public eye for so long by being in one of the most expensive and luxurious sports, having more conversations with Leo and Violetta during the book because although they are secondary characters, they feel that they are left aside even in the last chapters it mentions that they sent messages with Vi, but we do not see these during the story so there is a cut. I would have liked to know more about the world of the mafia but I have a theory and I want to wait.
And this is something that complicates me because I liked the relationship between Luca and Ale but there was a point where I felt that Luca was giving or putting more than her, we have a scene where he opens up completely and in my mind I was just thinking tell him please tell him but he did nothing and it hurt me.
I already mentioned that the travel scenes are good but I wish it would focus more on them as a couple.

I think that something that I do not expect is the number of winks that we have for future books and I do not know if I am imagining it because I do not know what direction the books or the series will take or what world it will focus on but I really It excites me a lot and there is even a couple that I thought would happen but then something happened that made me change my mind. However, I think that with any character that happens, it really excites me and I will be happy with the result. I don't know what character the second book starts with but you must know that I'm a fan of secondary characters, so I'll be there to read it.

I wanted to give this book four stars but i just couldn’t. I find the age gap weird, she’s 20 and he’s 38. I hate when the women, or man for that matter, has just past the age of 18, for a lack of better word, it feels predatory. Definitely did not help that he calls her “little girl.” Literal ick.

Xavier was probably the only reason I pushed through this book.

I received this book arc from the author in exchange for an honest review

I loved everything about this book, maria was so headstrong, crazy and fun and luca god luca was everything to me. This combined two of my favorite tropes, F1 and mafia/organized crime and it all blended together so well, luca is an ex F1 driver turned coach and maria is a F1 driver but also the daughter of one of the largest organized crime bosses in mexico. Luca and Maria hate each other until they don’t their chemistry was so well planned out and i loved the evolution of watching them want to rip each other throats out to having their tongues down each other’s throats the world building in this was very well planned out and also the side characters were also good xavier is my fav.

For a debut novel this book was really good i finished it in a night bc i couldn’t put it down
