This book is unlike any other in its story (and especially in the middle). It’s about a shark, a conceptual shark made of typography, language, and ideas. The book is psychedelic, experimental, and ergodic. It’s got a bit of everything from horror and thriller to sci-fi and fantasy, and it all wraps around romance. Any one of any genre will find at least something they like while also discovering something new altogether.
I enjoyed both halves of the book equally but you should know that they are very different from each other in terms of scenery and style. I don’t want to give too much away but it played out kind of like a grounded superhero film that ends with a big cgi battle. ….but in this case it was done right? I think. There was a reason for everything and the pacing in this book is so good. There are sections that just get faster and faster and faster but then slow down a lot when it knows the author needs a breather or when it wants to build suspense (or some of that romantic tension).
The end will leave you thinking.
The middle will shock you with its twists.
The beginning will have you puzzled.
It’s ergodic without feeling gimmicky.
What is there not to like about this book?
Well, the way women are written is a little one dimensional at the start but overtime that issue resolves itself. The beginning, middle, and end all feel very different from each other so you might like one part more than the rest, but for me it worked and there was a reason for every rule the story changed directions.
Read this, and you’re in for a unique adventure!
