Surprisingly really liked this. Usually books that feature infidelity so much give me the ick this one did not.

this book tries to explore the ethics of cheating and point out the irony in labeling cheaters “bad people” by creating a scenario where one might excuse the cheating and thereby reassess one’s own ethics, but falls flat. it’s also a tale of eye-for-an-eye vengeance.

Just not the story for me - I don’t like the main trope used in the storyline..

Elle and Chloe are two characters who meet on a themed getaway trip. Although the characters have never meet they share a bond that could make them enemies.
I felt this story did a great job of setting up the characters and making them relatable and able to understand their points of view on the events that unfolded.
This story is a nice introduction to author Sally Hepworth's writing style if you have never read any of her previous works.

I went into this story without reading the synopsis. From the title, I figured over the water thriller. Thankfully, I was not disappointed. Romantic mystery.

Sally Hepworth has an eloquent way with her writing. Even though the story wasn't quite what I expected, she still had me hooked from the near start. Ella, the main character, was very easy for me to relate to. A lot of her traits being similar to mine. Sally put words to many situations and "flaws" of Ella while setting her up that I've just as easily experienced but may not have known how to express. +1 for Sally as an author in my book for that. You go girl! I will be looking into more of your works.

Now back to Ella.. she's an introvert putting herself out there. Uncomfortable in situations even when she's familiar with them. She gets sucked into the charm of an extrovert that may or may not have the right intentions for her... Overall a quick, easy, fun read with just enough depth that it has you questioning at the very least, the character's ethics. The only qualm I had with the book was the finale. Contemplative, but wanting better communication for Ella.
