Nutkin and Old Mr. Brown is lovely. Don't play with Nutkin. You are so impertinence.

Reread of this series continues, alas, this one is slightly horrifying, which takes away from the charm. Obviously taunting/rudeness to one's elders and not bringing a gift for a host are emphatically discouraged, but the whole tail dismemberment and mention of possible skinning are a bridge too far for a children's book in my eyes. 😬 Pity, because there are some lovely illustrations of squirrels and harvest season.

My bunny Mr. Nom Chompsky loved this one, he sat through the whole thing! A couple of the riddles stumped him

This is the first Beatrix Potter I ever read. Way darker than I expected, haha.

Nutkin is so adventurous and despite losing his tail to Old Brown he still pushes through.
