This was a great wrap up to the story, things aren't settled, totally, but future and progress keep going!

Most of the problems in these comics start with people not knowing how to mix the past with the future. This one is no different: this time the story takes us to the Southern Water Tribe, where thing are going less than perfect. There’s a lot of changes happening around the tribe, and not everyone is happy about it.

First came Sokka and Katara, then Toph, then Aang and finally Zuko joins the party in this issue! I’m so happy to see the entire team together. They love, trust and respect each other so much my heart literally melts. Plus, we get to see them all acting like a family which is everything I ever wanted and all I ever asked for :D

This had a strong finish and a good message. Home isn't just where you make it. It's what you accept as home. Like loving a person, you can love a place and its community as it evolves and rediscovers itself. Time changes the environment and updates the structure, and it's up to you to decide if it's still for you or not. Much of the time, you'll be welcomed with open arms if yours are the same.

North and South is not the best story of all the Avatar: The Last Airbender comics, but I'm still happy to have read it. Whereas it was somewhat tiring to encounter yet another political issue, it was interesting to read about the struggles between the Northern and Southern Water Tribes. It shows where the still lingering issues during Korra's era came from. In that aspect, North and South forms a good transition.

Also kudos to Gurihiru, because the way all the characters are drawn really shows that time has passed. They all look older but in a subtle enough way that everyone is still recognizable.

That having been said, I am still left with quite a few questions. Since this is the last comic of Gene Luen Yang (x Gurihiru), I had hoped for a bit more closure. I feel that there are still things left unresolved - not just for the North and South series, but Smoke and Shadow as well.
