Damn. Should have spent more time reading less drinking rum. Damn good book.

This series is fast becoming one of my favourites and the audiobook narrations are just fantastic - exactly what I need for a 2-hour commute.

The series so far has been filled with 3D believable characters and although Jade can sometimes be a moron (her words), the almost stream of consciousness writing is hilarious, making Jade one of the most likeable protagonists I've come across for a while.

It also helps that the story is high paced and breezes from book to book without a hitch.

Somehow the writing seemed more all over the place in this one, and could definitely have used some editing. The story also wasn't all that interesting IMO, it started to get more interesting at the very end, but not enough for me to buy/read a third instalment. That's it for me for this series.

Much better than the first book. Really enjoyed it as a quick fun read.

More chocolate cupcakes. I wonder if she is going to put out a recipe book like other authors who write books that feature food. I would love to try some of the cupcakes she describes. I can feel the weight being added to my waist line every time she describes one.

Read this one almost immediately after finishing the first one. These books remind me of the early Sookie Stackhouse books. They have a fun, light tone, and a couple of love interests. They do make me want to eat lots of sugar and chocolate, though. Yum!

I was truly surprised with this book, I thought that perhaps it would let the first one down. It didn't.

It gave me wolves, witches, dragons and vampires. Plus lots and lots of buttercream icing. Yum.

The only slight let down for me was that the ending was a bit abrupt and I wanted to read more. I think that a few more chapters could have been added to round things off a bit more. It's not a cliffhanger as such but I will now have to read the 3rd book. Which is absolutely fine by me :)

Now to download the cupcake recipes and get baking

This is a fun series, and it makes for quick light reads. The only thing that bugs me is the lack of character development around the series villain - I don't really care for villains that are just blandly evil, with no clear reason or motivation, and that's kind of the case here. But it's still a good enough story that's a perfect palate cleanser when I'm not in the mood to read more seriously.

Better than the first

While annoyed by the non growth of the main character at the start of the book I was pleasantly surprised as it went on and by the end I was pleased. I am also very happy to see the world change and grow to something quite unique. Very excited to continue the story in book 3.
