For the first half of the book I was unimpressed, and the whole thing is a bit dull. Rian was both a snob and a Mary Sue trope. 50% of the way through and it’s repetitive “I put on a skimpy dress and I usually never wear clothes like this. Surprise run in with Pierce. Sex - and I never do this.” The second half is better, but by then it’s just real estate, “I like him but I don’t want to let him in,” and sex. It’s also hard to identify with main characters who are either millionaires or former millionaires who are on their way to becoming millionaires again. Side characters are barely written in, with just short scenes. I’m used to better from Helena Hunting.
Also, everyone praising how Rian and her sister worked their way up from nothing are wrong. They worked their way up from $10,000, a free, furnished house, and trust funds they received at age 25. That’s quite a leg up that most people don’t get.
