Okay, I know I've said I hate cliffhangers when it comes to romances, and I still do, but I actually really liked this freaking book!!! This was my first mafia romance, so maybe that's why I enjoyed it so much? I don't know, but I now have a whole new trope to dive into.

I want to start off by saying I was really surprised that I liked both characters so much. I feel like I thought I'd either love the women main character and hate the male main character, vice versa. But I it wasn't like that! I think Sykes did a great job of developing the characters throughout the whole story. I felt a connection with both of them. I do feel like the women main character is a bit naive, but that is the author's point lol But sometimes it can get annoying.

I really liked Max's character and he's the reason I actually want to keep reading this trilogy. I felt like his character is relatable, other than the fact that he murders people and is in a mafia family lol I felt like it was the same with Allie too. Super relatable when it came to their thoughts and how they feel about things.

Overall I liked this book, I'm not giving it five stars because of the cliffhanger. I know it's the point when it comes to a trilogy, but I still feel strongly about wanting that HEA. Please check your triggers before you read this. There is spice, I'd say three out of five.

*As of 10/12/22 this book is free on Amazon.*

I am pretty sure I have died and gone to mafia heaven! This was my first book by Julia Sykes and I absolutely adored it. Max and Allie are mafia perfection. Allie is the mayor's daughter and she is kidnapped by Max - who is using her for revenge. This story had twists and turns and so many times that I had the quick thought that I had no idea that was coming. The author did an incredible job creating a storyline that was captivating and easy to read. I can't wait to see what happens in Book 2!

I am always a fan of dark romance and when a friend recommended I read Julia Sykes, I thought to myself, “Say less.” I grabbed Fallen Prince since the third in the series comes out later this month and was not disappointed. While her other titles have a slightly different theme, this is the story about a broken man from a dangerous and broken family. Seeking answers, he stumbles onto a woman – though innocent, young, and quite naive – is also not weak. Their chemistry is hot and their story is full of tantalizing plot threads.

Max Ferrara kidnaps Allie looking for answers. As the daughter of the mayor, he’s hoping she might have the answers he needs. Her father sent most of his family to prison a decade ago and now Max is the black sheep of the family. They start out as enemies, but with each encounter, they find it harder and harder to stay away. Kisses become more until the reality of their situation sets in and things take a dangerous turn. The past starts to reveal itself and changes everything.

I really enjoyed this story, though it was a little New Adult for my usual tastes. It’s a yummy dark and dangerous read, but most of the story is spent setting the stage for the rest of the story. I loved how Allie could see beyond Max’s fierce and scarred appearance. It will be interesting to see how Allie changes in the next two books as she learns more about the past and their families. This book left me with more questions than answers and is book 1 of 3 in a trilogy. I can’t wait to see where this dark romance takes Max and Allie.

I just don't feel interested enough in these characters to continue. I'm 33% in and I have no feelings at all about the story. I'm already skimming so I don't see myself rating it very high and I'm hoping to focus on spending time with highly rated book before the end of the year.

Was an alright read. The romance is a bit Stockholm Syndrome. So this is definitely on the dark romance side.

An okay read for me. The concept was interesting but Allie was too naive. Max kept hiding things from her as well. The writing was good. I liked the author didn't rush the romance between Allie and Max. Also, I think their chemistry happened because of a deeper attraction, not just lust. I liked that.

My emotions are all over the place after finishing this book! I am very much sitting here both asking myself what I just read and confidently knowing that I cannot wait to dive in to the next book tomorrow. I have so many mixed feelings about all the characters in this book. One thing about me is that I will always root for the rookie, or the one no one expects to see good from. I’ll always hope for the damaged bad boy to find the girl who believes in him and treats him the way he always deserved to be treated. While Max started off making some choices I really abhorred in this book, by the end… the man stole my heart! Allie is also so intriguing to me. She’s a little naive. She’s a little blind to what’s going on around her. But she’s also a little fierce (still think she should’ve sunk those keys into Gavin’s face) and ultimately I think she’ll be a fighter. I can’t wait to see how this story unfolds. I can’t wait to see how Niko is a part of it. I simultaneously feel bad for him because of his controlling jerk of a father but also not that bad because he’s the son of that Bratva king. Ah, overall I am just so intrigued in this story and all the characters and I cannot wait to find out what happens next! Bring it on!!

This was a first-time read for Julia Sykes, I went in with zero expectations. I enjoyed this one, it's a pretty straightforward storyline, but was definitely curious to see how the story would develop.

Max wasn't quite what I expected, tortured hero wanting to set his mark within his family. I'm more intrigued with his character development since he doesn't have the best guidance. It'll be interesting for sure.

With Allie, there's so much she doesn't know especially when it comes to her father. I was hoping we'd dive a bit more into it in this book, but it looks like that'll happen in the next one.

I'm generally not a huge fan of series with the same couple, it tends to be fillers, but I'm definitely eager to see where their story goes. This was just what I needed.
