Dark, twisty and unhinged is how I would describe this book. The writing was truly captivating and lured you into this sense of unease from the narrator. Zoe is our narrator and we meet her first in hospital. To begin with we don't really know what has happened apart from her flat mate, Hailey has been murdered. It then flashes back to the past as Zoe tells of her time in Berlin as an exchange student. Her time in Berlin is filled with the wild nightlife, and the strange apartment she is staying in. The apartment is owned by a Thriller author who is in the process of writing a new book. Not long after moving in both Zoe and Hailey get the sense that she is watching them and entering the apartment in an attempt to use them as the characters of her next book. This leads to the girls wanting revenge, so they decide to set up their own club from the apartment and invite all of the people they have met in Berlin. To begin with all is fine, but slowly the narrative they are trying to spin is out of their control.
My disappointments lie with some of the language used within the book. There are numerous times were ablelist language is used, and one situation were Hailey admits to acting disabled for her own gain. This could have been avoided easily.
