If this book wasn’t such a good read, I would be unspeakably angry about the ending. I am angry, and I want answers. And I can only hope Henkel writes more so I can get these answers!

It is a dizzying story that pulls you in and takes you for a ride. I couldn’t put it down.

An amazing, albeit slightly trashy, thriller set in the Berlin night life. Kept me guessing up until the last  page. Great quick beach read.

The last time I was in Berlin, me and my friend were too broke to pay for a hostel for the night, so we spent a few sleep-deprived hours eating at Spätis until we caught the train back home at 4am. So this book brought up good memories.

At first, it was a bit weird to see my capital city from the perspective of a non-German in a language that wasn't German but in the end it added to the charm, the disconcerted-ness of it all.

Zoe and Hailey were fascinating characters and I'm always here for toxic female friendships (call it the all-girls school trauma). While their adventures may seem outlandish, they just true and realistic to Berlin for me.

I didn't 100% like how the story wrapped up but it was still a satisfying ending, clearing up all the spooky parts (and making them all the more spooky through it) and in the end satisfying.

I couldn't put down this book and if you're German and know Berlin or don't know what even happens in the Berlin except for it being Germany's capital, I think you would enjoy this!

I don’t  the LGBTQ genre or any sexual based book.  This was recommended and I was unaware it was LGBTQ.  While I don’t mind characters that fit that description, I don’t want to hear about anyone’s sexuality in crass, crude or descriptive ways.  The rest of the plot was overshadowed by that, but was slow and boring anyway.

It's hard to be objective for so many reasons.... this book's main character is Berlin, which is my home, and I bought this book in my favorite Berlin bookstore, and I read it while coming home from my annual Berlin holidays.
Still, I can be extremely truthful when I say that this was my best read of 2022. It is a *light* thriller that takes place in the y2ks during a cold Berlin winter, which is honestly one of the most surprisingly thrilling setting for a novel. I felt like I was there during the whole reading.
The first half of the book is slow paced, and yet I wasn't bored one second. It is a deep exploration of the characters and why the rest of the story will unfold like so. Then the suspense highly hits, and we're already too involved in the lives of the girls, we have to feel the fear with them.
I genuinely felt like I was there, and loved the plot twists. If you are a beginner in thriller novels, if you love European capitals, characters dynamics that feel like the ones in GIRLS (Lena Dunham) and a dramatic story, you will love it. You could recognize the theater inspired writing of the author, and the nostalgia of it all. I will never stop praising this <3
