Was hard to rate this book. On one hand, it kept me reading but I often had a feeling that it wasn't really going anywhere. But the more I think of it, the more I think this is what might actually happen if some regular depressed dude found a hole like that. It was really believable in the characters and how they acted. Although overall this books leaves you without a true ending, I think it really created a believable book.

This was delightfully weird and gruesome. As a horror story it drags at times, but the payoff is more or less worth it. There's no twist, no real surprises as you see everything coming from the beginning but the MC's slow descent is brutal and its take on toxic relationships is subtle enough it doesn't feel cloying, but gritty and sometimes all too real.

yeah it's about a bunch of shitty unlikable people obsessing over a hole for a few hundred pages. and it's one of my favourite books ever in the world.

I really really wanted to like this book, but I just couldn’t. I rarely give up on a book, but I did on this one. The author’s writing style was really interesting, but I found myself having a really hard time staying interested in the storyline or caring about the characters.
