Een boek waar ik enorm naar uitkeek, maar die me enorm heeft teleurgesteld. *zucht*
Zo, ik moest wat moeite doen om dit boek te krijgen. Bibliotheek #1 was de enige die hem had, maar ik mag maar 2 boeken lenen (stom gastleenabonnement). De eerste keer had ik dus 2 boeken, de tweede keer was ik ziek, de derde keer was ie uitgeleend, en de vierde keer had ik hem dan toch! Ik was enorm enthousiast over het boek, ik kan altijd wel een kerstboek gebruiken, vooral als er ook nog een dino bij is. Helaas... het boek was gewoon niet voor mij.
Ik zal een goed/slecht review maken.
Slecht/bleh/brak/nee dank je:
*Brenda: Ach, moeten we nu medelijden hebben ach gut gut gut, echt stoer hoor dat je het kut hebt thuis en dan maar iemand in een rolstoel pest tot ie niks meer kan dan huilen, sneu meisje. Sorry hoor, ik word zo moe van boeken waar iemand gepest wordt, maar we moeten het maar allemaal medelijden hebben met de pester want die arme jongen (of meisje) heeft waarschijnlijk een waardeloze thuissituatie of iets anders. Sorry, ik ben gepest en ik HAAT dit gedoe. Kunnen we gewoon een pester hebben die gemeen is en dat is het?
*De Jager: Mijn hemel wat een walgelijk type. En hoe is hij nog nooit gearresteerd? Speelt dit boek zich af in Amerika dat hij gewoon met een geweer kan rondlopen en niemand hem aanhoudt? Als je dat hier doet namelijk wordt je meteen opgepakt met veel fanfare. En wie bedreigt een 10-jarig kind en zegt dat ie op zijn muur komt hangen? En dan kan ik nog doorgaan. Ja, hij was wel een echte slechterik, gewoon al vanaf zijn jeugd. Dus ja, de schrijver heeft het goed gedaan, maar hij was gewoon iets té van het goede voor mij.
*Kerstmisaurus: In ieder geval een stukje. Ik snap dat het rot is dat je alleen bent, maar om nou een kado te jatten en zelfs mee te gaan op de reis van de kerstman, nee.
*Het einde. Waarom moet het zo cliché eindigen. Was het echt nodig om het zo sparkly en glittery te laten eindigen? Aan de ene kant was het wel lief, maar ja, het lag ook wel aan Brenda en hoe die moeder was (maar we moeten maar medelijden hebben want ze heeft net haar man verloren aan een scheiding).
*De elvenliedjes. Misschien dat het aan de vertaling lag, maar ze waren gewoon zo eh. Ik had moeite om ze te lezen.
*Dat onze hoofdpersoon nooit met iemand praatte over hoe hij zich voelde. *zucht*
Goed:
*Wat er met de jager gebeurd, en dat was al een reden om dit boek 2 sterren te raten.
*De illustraties, die waren zoooo goed. Maar ja, dat had ik al verwacht vanwege wie de illustrator is.
*Toch een beetje het kerstmissfeer die heerlijk was gedaan.
*De Kerstmisaurus, ik hou van dinosaurussen en deze is wel erg speciaal. Al las ik zijn naam steeds als Kermisaurus.
*De Noordpool, mag ik daar ook eens heen? Het lijkt me echt supermagisch, al zal ik waarschijnlijk snel moe worden van de elven.

I’m 40, hardly the target audience, but I LOVED this book. And I didn’t even read it with my kids! (To be fair, I thought I’d read the first part to check that it didn’t say anything about Santa not existing before I read it with them)
Bad news for them, because it does (although Tom Fletcher very much pushes that there is a real Santa). At 7 & 5 they’re at way too impressionable an age to even bypass that rumour, so they have to wait another year or two and I decided to read on….and ended up reading the whole book in one sitting.
It’s fun, it’s heartwarming, it’s cheeky, there’s a really nasty villain and now, as I career towards middle age, I want a baby dinosaur for Christmas. Thank you @tomfletcher for a wonderful piece of Christmas fiction.

Was this book written for 22 year olds? No. Did I still have a fun time reading it? Hell yes.
The musical edition is so fun, and the songs are both lovely (and catchy) on their own, and a great addition to the story. It almost made it feel cinematic, and honestly I would love to see a film of this for Christmas

Do yourself a favor and get the audiobook version of The Christmasaurus. WHAT A TREAT! The story was so cute and warm and sometimes even quite shocking. But they narrator and the different surprises along the way made it so special. A Christmas must!

A delightful, whimsical Christmas story! A lovely read with beautiful messaging. I especially liked how the main character represented the disabled community, which is often overlooked in literature (especially in children’s books), with such tenderness and appropriate care. Very impressed by Tom Fletcher!

We can see the storyline unfolding from 2 perspective. William and the Christmasaurus. We can go and fly on an amazing journey and adventure with them. It was full of excitement, Christmas, happiness and making friends.
This is probably the most Christmassy book I have ever read. We get to meet with Santa, with some very bad people and naughty children who deep down are the nicest. We get to meet William's dad Mr Trundle who wears christmas jumpers all year around, has a christmas tree in his cupboard and even decorated his workplace in christmas vibes. I feel like Tom Fletcher wrote a book about himself, but nevertheless, it is an amazing book. We also get to meet the christmasaurus of course and some really nice elves, whom only speak in rhymes.
The book is meant for younger audiences than me, however, it was still an enhancing and magical ride. The book starts off with the story of the Christmasaurus and how he lived up to his name. From then, we can either see what is happening on the North Pole or we can see the story from William's perspective.
The Christmasaurus is a definite read for little kids, I feel like they would really enjoy and could really get into the story more so in the christmas spirit :). The Christmasurus was full of humour, fun, adventure and even at places made as I like to call myself a grown-up-with-a-child's-heart sniff and shed a few tears.
