I wasn't sure what I was going to make of this to be honest. I have been a Pratchett fan since pretty much the beginning and my loyalty and love to Sir PTerry is one of the constants of my life. I didn't know what Rob was going to do in this book and I was very, very nervous. I needn't have worried. This is a wonderful, funny, glorious and deeply moving thing. I read it so fast and then as the last chapter loomed I slowed right down because I just didn't want it to end. And when I finally finished it, I cried and cried and cried.
The perfect homage to a great man and his writing.

A moving biography where you got a strong sense of who Terry Pratchett was as a human being.
I think the main thing missing for me here was the connection between Sir Terry and his characters in a more detailed sense. From a number of anecdotes given in the book, you could feel that each of his characters had a clearly defined essence which could be portrayed rightly/wrongly in adaptions of different kinds eg. in figurines, films, TV etc. I was hoping to get more of an in depth view of where Pratchett's core characters came from (eg. Vimes, Weatherwax, Rincewind etc.) and what they meant to him.
I got the strong sense Sir Terry would have given interesting answers if he'd been asked those questions. Maybe he already has in other places elsewhere, which is why Wilkins didn't cover it. Maybe too it's unrealistic to expect a biography to go into that layer of depth.
But I do feel like this book, while still being good, could have been even better if it went down to that extra bit of detail.

Finally finished this audiobook. It took a long while, partly because I don't tend to listen to audiobooks that much right now, and partly because, like Joey and Little Women when Beth got sick, I wanted to put it in the freezer so I didn't have to experience the pain of the ending.
