**I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.**

A WILD CARD KISS is the first book in a the new series Happy Endings.

Harlan and Katie hit it off at a wedding making plans to go on a date the following Tuesday but when the timing is off they become each others one that got away. Seven years later they have another chance meeting, the night of Katie's would be wedding. Sparks fly and we spend the rest of the book watching these two have horrible timing and lots of chemistry.

I loved the slow angst filled flow of this book. I made the sweet parts all that sweeter!

I can't wait for the rest of the series! I am so invested in these characters already.

Note: An ARC was provided by the author.

Harlan and Katie's story initially begins in the free prequel novella, A Wild Card Night, but that's included in the full-length novel, so no worries if you haven't read that yet. If you have, you can totally skip it and jump right in to A Wild Card Kiss. It's difficult not to be charmed by the story that plays out between Harlan and Katie, and I appreciated that these two didn't spend the over seven years they hadn't seen each other, pining away and being all woeful. They lived good lives while apart, and I liked that they used both their hearts and their heads when making decisions after they'd reunited. I loved the supporting characters, although Katie's mother, and I use the term loosely, could give Joan Crawford a run for her money. The bits and pieces from a couple of those support characters has me eager for their upcoming books as well. A Wild Card Kiss was a 4.5-starred start to the long weekend.

Harlan - football star, single dad, the one who got away 7 years ago.

Katie - business owner, yoga queen, the other one that got away 7 years ago.

When Katie gets the surprise of her life on the day of her wedding, she heads to find a drink… and in the process, re-finds Harlan, who will do everything he can to make her feel better. While he succeeds in doing so, Katie knows she’s not in a place to have a relationship at that moment. He tells her to return with the clothes he lends her when she’s ready.

When Katie gets her head together, she finds herself always thinking of Harlan, and decides to wade into the dating pool again, she sees him again. They are instant chemistry once again. Just when they think they’re in the clear, his football team hires her to do some yoga training with the team. There are no fraternization policy in his contract, so they are, once again having to wait to be able to truly explore their connection. It seems like the universe is against them… but the more they work together in her role with the team, the more they get to know one another, and they more their connection grows. What will they do with this??? Katie is not a “rule-breaker” and doesn’t want to sneak around and ruin the deal she and her sister’s company has with the team…. Are they doomed?

I love these fun to read, great characters, wonderful story books that Lauren Blakely writes! I will read every single one! Thank you for using your talent for good!

Story of Harlem and Katie

This is one of my favourite books of Lauren Blakely.

The chemistry and emotion in this book was so endearing, loved seeing Harlem and Katie’s relationship blossom and I totally agree with Katie, devoted dads are hot!

Can’t wait to keep reading Lauren’s books, loving all of them.

Opportunities Missed

Harlan and Katie meet and make a date for a Tuesday, unfortunately she has a great business opportunity that has her moving away before that date. Fast forward seven years and a chance run in at a bowling alley, a night of hot s3x and then another wrench thrown their way.
They can't seem to catch a break when it comes to starting a relationship between them. There are some funny moments between them and sweet moments. I really liked this book because even though Harlan was a pro football player, he was down to earth, not stuck up and high on himself or his success. He could make fun of himself and just have fun. He enjoyed life. Katie had issues with her mother, which she had to overcome, one of the reasons he found her in the bar of the bowling alley, but she also had a great sense of humor.

Loved this whole series. I also love that so many characters cross over in so many series. Love that they are all interconnected somehow. But Harlen and Katie were mad cute. Loved their story.

A Wild Card Kiss
Happy Endings, Book 1
By: Lauren Blakely
Narrated by: Erin Mallon, Zachary Webber

Single dad and second chance romance? Sign me up! Lauren Blakely hits all things I love in this wonderfully romantic story of Harlan and Kate. Starting with A Wild Card Night, the prequel to this book, we get to see Harlan and Kate meet at a wedding and their instant chemistry. With the promise of more, this steamy interlude ends with life taking a few turns and these two never getting the chance to go on their date. But now years later, Kate bumps in Harlan at the least likely of places under the most horrible of circumstances. But the chemistry is still there. Will they find their happily ever after? Harlan with his daughter is heart melting, and he is just incredibly swoon worthy. And Kate deserves a man that loves her. This could not have been better! It's a fantastic story.

To make it even better, Zachary Webber and Erin Mallon bring it all to life. Webber has such charm as he becomes Harlan, it's impossible not to fall for this character! Kate is a little tougher, lots of layers and Mallon nails each one. She shows strength, courage and love. Great team for this great listen.

A Wild Card Kiss is Lauren Blakely’s newest sports romance featuring Harlan aka “sexy” football star for the San Francisco Renegades and Katie aka “yoga empress” with extra cute appearances by Harlan’s 6 yr old daughter, Abby. She is so darn cute! I really love her appearances in the audiobook with Zachary Webber’s voice. There is a prequel to this story called A Wild Card Night. You do not have to read the prequel to enjoy Katie and Harlan’s story. These two are insta-hot for each other in the prequel. Unfortunately, fate has other ideas for these two. A Wild Card Kiss picks up Katie and Harlan’s story eight years later when Katie’s world comes crashing down by her cheating fiance on her wedding day. Somehow Katie finds herself at a bowling alley ironically still in her wedding dress. Fate steps in again by putting Harlan in her path again and they make plans for that long overdue real date. Will fate trick them up again? Read on or listen to the audiobook to find out. This story is narrated by Zachary Weber and Erin Mallon, two of my favorite Lauren Blakely narrators. These two bring so much passion, heart, and emotion to life not only in this story but all Lauren Blakely stories they narrate. They are both equally talented. When it comes to the between-the-sheets action (which is HOT btw) I tend to favor the male POV. Both Zachary and Erin are amazing with all aspects of this story. Absolutely recommend A Wild Card Kiss and its prequel A Wild Card Night. You do not need to understand football to enjoy Harlan and Katie.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. *****
