"I was absolutely spell-bound, questioning everything, and further fell in love with our protagonists along with Penny's artful descriptive imagery though victuals, art, nature, as well as relationships along with the deepset and perfectly timed symbolism that never fails to leave an imprint on your spirit. I have the 3 on the way in the mail!

The side drama in this one was almost too much for me, but the ending wrapped up so well I forgave it. Louise Penny has such a gift for writing, the details and the relationship between every piece of her stories are just beautiful.

4.5 rounded up.

So many things that have been building through the series reached a peak in this book, and I could hardly put it down, and finishing it leaves me both warm and content and also dismayed that I have to wait for the next book to be available from my library. I have truly fallen in love with all these characters and the world Louise Penny has crafted, with its tragic and tender beauty.

That said... rounded up to 5 stars for Ruth and her ducks!

I’ve never read a mystery series before, and what I’m enjoying the most is the arc of the recurring characters. Nice twists and turns. The central murder mystery was just okay for me, but the ongoing development of Gamache and his crew is fun.

Multiple long car rides set the stage to listen to Gamache #3 as an audiobook. It started off a bit weird and confusing but got much better once Gamache and crew enter the story. The moral challenges and nuances Gamache faces are so interesting and I think they are the most compelling parts of these mysteries. Three murders in Three Pines seems like a stretch considering how small of a town it is - I am happy to see the next book moves to a new location.
