A great primer on how feminism relates to what we take in every day. Also a great explanation of why pop culture should matter to feminists.

Feminism and Pop Culture is an introduction to both feminism in general and how women are treated/viewed in pop culture. The book is informative and, I believe, a type of book important for any woman to read. However, the book is extremely dry and I found myself incredibly bored through parts.

I’ve got some mixed feelings about this one, because at first I enjoyed it but then I started to get tired.
On the one hand, this was quite comprehensive, moderately easy and interesting to read, and very well researched.
On the other hand, this was exclusively focused on American culture, and most of its focus was on advertising and media. It didn’t even talk about Friends or The Simpson, but it did sure talk about this-or-that ad for this-or-that product back in the 70s. Not exactly what I was looking for.
So, overall, I give it a 3/5. Not bad and quite educative, but perhaps a bit too much for me.
